Computer Programming & Game Design Program | Certificate

This is intended for high school students attending from within the district. College credits may be available as part of this program. Students from outside the district or adults who are not enrolled in high school can contact the center to apply for this program, as well.

This program forms the groundwork for the increasing number of Internet and Computer Game and Entertainment Related Careers ranging from Computer Programmer (covering applications, web and game programming), Game Designer, Web Designer, Graphic Designer (for web-based graphics, print-media and game graphics) and Database Designer. Web programming (using JavaScript and PHP) and E-Commerce are covered. Programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, PHP and SQL will be covered as well as multimedia tools: Photoshop, Blender, Inkscape and Game Programming tools (Gamemaker). Additional topics such as interactive websites with JavaScript and 3D Game Programming will also be covered.

Basic Refrigeration & Charging Procedures, HVACR Training | Certification

This program is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

This course is an introduction to air conditioning and refrigeration theory, application, systems, components, troubleshooting, and system charging. Hands-on training in our Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) lab will test students in a variety of scenarios that they will encounter in the field.

Completing this class will prepare students for the EPA 608 Certification.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Training | Certification

This program is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

Clinical medical assistants are skilled multi-taskers who help to maximize the productivity of the healthcare team. In this course, you will learn medical terminology, medical law and ethics, HIPAA rules, scheduling systems, patient check-in and check-out, contents of a medical record, anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, nutrition, phlebotomy theory, injections, and routine treatment and laboratory duties. You will be also able to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national certification exam offered by National Health Career Association (NHA). This course includes a voucher which covers the fee of the exam. Upon completion of the course, you will also have the opportunity to gain access to our Externship Starter Kit.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A Training | License

This program is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

Earn your CDL and start a rewarding new career! This class offers 150 hours of training for students seeking a class A CDL. Students must be at least 18 with a valid VT driver’s license, with the ability to pass a five-panel drug test and obtain a medical certificate. The United States Department of Transportation requires that all drivers who transport materials across state lines be at least 21.

Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) Training | License

This program is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

This 115-hour State Board of Nursing-approved course focuses on essentials for nursing assistants, and safe and effective practices in the health care setting. Students learn the basics of assisting patients, body mechanics, ethics, and communication while preparing for licensing exam.

This program prepares for the following credential(s): Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA).

Pharmacy Technician Training | Certification

This program is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

This program will teach you medical and pharmaceutical terminology, basic anatomy related to the pharmacology of medications, and pharmaceutical calculations. You will also get hands-on practice in retail pharmacy procedures through an online lab module. You’ll learn what information is necessary to process prescriptions and physician orders and apply that knowledge to fill mock prescriptions. The curriculum also includes the ethics of pharmacy practice and education about prescription medications, patient care, and interaction, and charges and reimbursement. Students also have the opportunity to apply for a 100+ hour externship at a local Walgreens pharmacy.

Upon completion of this course, you will be prepared to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This course includes a voucher which covers the fee of the exam.

Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) Training | License

This program is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

The Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) program will prepare you for an entry level position in the field of nursing. Graduates of this program are prepared to work in long term care facilities and many other areas of the healthcare industry.

The program provides 60 hours of classroom training and 40 hours of clinical training for students that are interested in pursuing a nursing assistant career in the medical field. You will learn quality patient care, diagnostic and medical procedures, and medical terminology as well as all the necessary personal touches it takes to be a successful LNA. The program consists of 100 hours divided between classroom, clinical and lab time.

Veterinary Assistant Training | Certificate

This program is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

Students will learn the skills and get the hands-on veterinary assistant training needed to tend to the needs of animals in a veterinary clinic. Students complete the online portion and then move to a local veterinary clinic where they complete an eight week/100 hour clinical externship.

The goal of the Veterinary Assistant program is to prepare students to work as veterinary assistants under the supervision of veterinarians and veterinary technicians in small or large animal hospitals or clinics. The program also prepares the students to take the national test to become an Approved Veterinary Assistant through NAVTA.

Culinary Arts Program | Certificate

This is intended for high school students attending from within the district. College credits may be available as part of this program. Students from outside the district or adults who are not enrolled in high school can contact the center to apply for this program, as well.

Students learn food science theory and develop real world skills in our commercial kitchen, preparing for careers as chefs, restauranteurs, personal chefs, nutritionists, and bakers. Internships and River Bend Inn focus on restaurant management, cooking methods, food safety, nutrition and teamwork. Our program will prepare students with a complete restaurant experience. Students discover their own creative talents as they learn to combine ingredients and develop their own palate.
