Dental Assisting | Certification

You can train to become a dental assistant in as little as six months with an online certificate program through the Vermont Adult Career & Technical Education Association in collaboration with the Vermont State Dental Society. Plus, you can get paid as a dental assistant trainee while earning a certificate in dental assisting to get on a clear path to a high-pay, high-demand career.

This course includes:

  • Dental assisting in the specialty practice

This program includes or prepares for the following credential(s): Certified Dental Assistant.

STEM: Principles of Engineering | Certificate

Through problems that engage and challenge, Principles of Engineering students explore a broad range of engineering topics, including mechanisms, the strength of structures and materials, and automation. They also develop skills in problem solving, research, and design while learning strategies for design process documentation, collaboration, and presentation.

This program includes the following credential(s): ACT National Career Readiness Certificate.

Automotive Technology | Certification

Automotive Technology trains and prepares students to become automotive technicians or for jobs in related fields. Students are trained on HACTC shop vehicles. The program’s emphasis is on safe, honest, ethical and professional work habits and skills. The program follows a best practices approach to automotive repair. Students use individual skills as well as team-based learning to become good at problem solving and time management in addition to their automotive training.

This program includes the following credentials: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Entry Level Certification-Automobile Service Tech., ACT National Career Readiness Certificate, ASE Stu. Certification Maintenance & Light Repair

Business Administration | Certificate

The Business Administration program leads students through all aspects of the business world, from accounting and personal finance to marketing and professional communications. Students develop their own business skills through individual and group projects, cooperative education placements and guest lectures from industry professionals.

This program includes the following credential(s): ACT National Career Readiness Certificate.

Cosmetology | License

The Cosmetology program will provide students the skills and experiences they need to become licensed Cosmetologists. Completing 1,000 hours of study, students will master skills in hair design, nail and skincare, personal appearance, communication, and business management. Students will learn and put into practice these skills through demonstrations on mannequins and by working with fellow students and live clients in a salon setting.

This program includes the following credentials: ACT National Career Readiness Certificate. Successful participation in this program is a pathway to eligibility for the Vermont Licensing Exam to obtain a Cosmetology License.

Design, Illustration, & Media Arts | Certification

The Design, Illustration, and Media Arts (DIMA) program at HACTC is full of creative thinkers. Through this program students explore the technology skills of a growing creative industry. Students use industry-standard Mac hardware with the most up-to-date Adobe software. They work through projects that introduce them to many different aspects of digital illustration, digital video production, digital photography, 2-D animation, and motion graphics.

This program includes the following credentials: Adobe Certified Associate-Photoshop, Adobe Certified Associate-Illustrator, Adobe Certified Associate-Premiere Pro, Adobe Certified Associate-InDesign, ACT National Career Readiness Certificate.

Health Sciences | License

Health Sciences is a program that gives high school students an opportunity to study medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, and procedures and principles important to health care professions. This program also explores the many opportunities available in health care professions and provides students the opportunity to job shadow in related health fields.

This program includes the following credentials: ACT National Career Readiness Certificate,Licensed Nurse Assistant (LNA), Certified Dental Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Certification, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) Certification, Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Certification.

Industrial Mechanics & Welding | Certificate

Industrial Mechanics and Welding covers many topics to provide general fabrication skills combined with technical subjects. The course prepares students for many jobs such as welding, electrical, machining, and mechanical trades. At the end of the program, students are prepared for a career or college with technical skills, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
