Leadership for Sustainability | Master’s Degree
This two-year, distance-learning program offers an innovative blend of week-long remote learning intensive experiences and engaging online classroom sessions with professional affiliates and peers. The core curriculum and innovative pedagogy are grounded in the belief that the changes we create in the world are reflective of the changes and conditions we cultivate in ourselves.
Students working in a wide variety of professional fields and communities explore leadership practices that are inspired by the wisdom of nature and challenge forces of domination and oppression. In year two, students conduct a capstone project for which they apply their learnings in their home community.
Medical Science | Master’s Degree
UVM’s Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree is a 30-credit, on-campus or online program with a cohesive set of courses that form a strong foundation of understanding how the human body works. Program courses include fundamentals of biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, pharmacology, biostatistics and anatomy that prepare our graduates for the rigors of medical school and health professional school curricula. While designed to be completed in 1 year, our flexible curriculum allows for part time study.

Historic Preservation | Master’s Degree
The Master of Science graduate degree in historic preservation is intended to prepare graduate students for broad-based careers in the field of historic preservation. The primary educational goal is the development of long-term professional practitioners with knowledge and training in the appropriate skills to support their careers. Graduate students are offered an intensive, practical, community-oriented, professional experience. Strong emphasis is placed on hands-on, community-based projects through linkages with local, state, and federal groups, organizations and agencies, heritage organizations, museums, and historic sites.
Interdisciplinary Educational Studies | Master’s Degree
The Interdisciplinary degree is self-designed. All programs are worked out under the supervision of the program director. All programs are subject to student modification at any time depending on the changing personal, academic, and professional interests of the student.
Interdisciplinary Educational Studies provides tools to deepen research, theory, and practice for those seeking academic advancement, professional development, and/or lifelong learning. This degree includes a strand in social justice education and a strand for individually-designed programs in consultation with an advisor. Many students pursue graduate certificates in Disability Studies, Education for Sustainability, and/or Resiliency-Based Approaches with Families, Schools, and Communities. Students may include graduate courses from other departments within the college and the university.
Early Childhood Special Education | Master’s Degree
This graduate program meets the needs of both new and in-place early childhood professionals seeking an advanced degree. UVM offers licensure (birth to age 6) and non-licensure pathways leading to a Master’s of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education.

This Community Schools Micro-Certificate of Graduate Studies (mCGS) offers a distinct learning experience aligned with local and national trends toward more inclusive, approachable, and effective methods that support student, family, and community wellbeing and development.
Community schools foster a sense of belonging while promoting positive student and family resilience and positive outcomes. The approach is an effective and applicable method for providing wraparound services that address the multifaceted needs of students and families.
Educational Leadership & Policy Studies | Master’s Degree
The master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is designed to cultivate leaders who can apply knowledge toward leading and building learning communities designed to make a positive difference in the lives of children, youth, families, adults, and communities. The program prepares public and private school leaders, curriculum leaders, teacher leaders, leaders of educational and social service agencies, and leaders for other educational organizations.
Complex Systems and Data Science | Graduate Certificate
The certificate can be earned by students as a complement for their graduate degrees across the University of Vermont, as a standalone post-baccalaureate graduate certificate.
If you’re looking to get your data science M.S. but don’t have years to invest in a degree program, this certificate program is for you. We provide students with a broad training in computation and theoretical techniques for describing and understanding complex natural and sociotechnical systems and enabling them to (as possible) predict, control, manage, and create such systems.
