This certificate meets the education requirements for an alternative route to Funeral Director licensure through the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation. In addition to education requirements, those pursuing Funeral Director licensure are required to complete an apprenticeship, continuing professional education hours, and a licensure exam. Apprenticeship, continuing education hours, and licensure exam must be arranged independently and are not part of the CCV Funeral Director certificate. Medical assistants perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by a physician.

The medical assisting apprenticeship includes five college-level courses paired with related instruction in a clinical setting. Once you have completed your on-the-job training, you can sit for a certification such as the CCMA.

The medical assisting apprenticeship is a great way to begin working toward a certificate or associate degree at CCV. The apprenticeship includes 15 college credits, which can be applied to the administrative or clinical medical assisting certificates and the health science associate degree program.

The Environmental Science program is designed to prepare students for employment in areas of the environment or for transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning. In this multidisciplinary program, you will learn to relate underlying scientific theory to environmental considerations affecting our everyday lives. You will gain an understanding of environmental problems and obtain the knowledge and skills to begin developing solutions.

This certificate provides students with essential skills to develop, support, and administer high-quality afterschool and youth programs for young people ages 5-18. Emphasis is on developing programs that use youth voice, active learning, planning and reflection, and supporting effective collaboration with families and community partners. Courses in this program may be applied to CCV Early Childhood Education A.A. or Behavioral Science A.S. degrees.

CCV’s Design & Media Studies program allows students to combine their skills in creativity, communication, design, and technology to find employment in the broad area of arts and media. All students will get a firm grounding in visual and verbal communication, design software, drawing, photography, and the creation of a professional portfolio. Students will also choose one of four focus areas: Digital Media Production, Graphic Design, Media Communications, and Visual Arts. Completing one of these focus areas, and expanding on this with strategically selected electives, will connect graduates with established four-year college programs both within Vermont and elsewhere and will also prepare them for the job market.

Designed for students beginning at CCV and planning to transfer into other institutions’ allied health programs, this certificate is excellent preparation for degree programs such as dental hygiene, respiratory therapy and nursing.

CCV’s associate of arts degree in Liberal Studies will introduce you to a wide range of subjects, providing a foundation for many different careers and for transferring to a four-year college or university. The Liberal Studies program is the most popular program of study among CCV graduates, accounting for nearly half of the degrees awarded each year. It is designed to include breadth and depth of learning, emphasizing exposure to a broad range of subjects and academic disciplines, and providing students with great flexibility in individual course selection.

Although the degree can be an end in itself, the majority of Liberal Studies graduates use it as their foundation for further academic pursuits. If you are uncertain about your long-term educational and career plans, the Liberal Studies program provides a valuable opportunity to explore your interests. The overarching objective of CCV’s Liberal Studies program is to produce graduates who are well-prepared to be active, contributing participants in their communities, their work settings, and their subsequent educational activities.

The Behavioral Science program will provide you with foundational knowledge required by those who enter careers in social work, addiction treatment, criminal justice, or psychology. You will gain the skills needed for work in a variety of community settings from human service/mental health programs to law enforcement and related agencies. This flexible program lets you tailor your studies to fit your career goals. The broad common base of behavioral science courses roots you in sound theory and ethical practice, while those who wish to may delve more deeply into focus areas, such as human services, criminal justice, substance use disorders, and psychology. Many participants in this program choose to continue their education at the baccalaureate level and beyond.

This certificate program prepares students for work in the childcare industry and early education environment. Courses in this program are also excellent preparation for continued study in education and child development.
