History | Bachelor’s Degree

History investigates and makes sense of past events and experiences, going beyond the “where and when” to the “how and why.” As you study and build critical-thinking skills, you will also have access to the career preparation resources that make our history program among the best in the region. We also offer a strong interdisciplinary approach, and your courses will include literature, political science, economics, sociology, archeology, and other social sciences. You will develop and carry out an original research project on your chosen topic before graduation.

Holistic Health | Bachelor’s Degree

One of the few programs of its kind in the country, the Bachelor of Science in Holistic Health will train you to provide advanced care in a wide variety of holistic health practices — including chiropractic, naturopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, yoga, herbalism, and more.

Our courses are primarily taught outside in nature, and there are opportunities to deepen your understanding of holistic health practices through internships. We also provide lots of hands-on interaction and direct experience with patients.

Human Services | Associate Degree

This program prepares you to start your career working with people. The field of human services helps people to help themselves, whether helping them meet basic needs like food and shelter or connecting them with guidance, counseling, or substance abuse treatment. We focus on hands-on learning and offer a combination of both psychology and human services courses.

You will be prepared for many jobs upon graduation. We also focus on personal growth, professional skill development, social justice, and cultural understanding. Our students are highly employable and have gone on to work in a variety of social service agencies and schools or have continued on to earn their bachelor’s.

Inclusive Adolescent Education | Bachelor’s Degree

This program will help you develop your teaching skills and experience at the same time. You will focus on a content area you are passionate about, whether that is art, science, social studies, math, English, theater, dance, or music!

You will graduate prepared to pursue licensure and may receive a recommendation for a Special Education endorsement by returning to earn six additional credits.

Environmental Science | Bachelor’s Degree

Explore the natural laboratory of the outdoors through fieldwork, hands-on labs, travel courses, and your own research. This environmental science degree combines geology, chemistry, and biology, equipping you with the skills for a career as an environmental scientist, state park naturalist, lab analyst, and many other roles in government, industry, and the nonprofit sector.

Exercise Science | Bachelor’s Degree

Vermont State’s Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science is the only accredited exercise science program in Vermont and New Hampshire and in the five percent of programs in the country that are both CAAHEP-accredited and NSCA-recognized.

With small class sizes and extensive opportunities for real-world learning, you can gain up to two years of professional work experience before you graduate. Graduates have a noteworthy 100% placement rate in a job and/or graduate program.

General Studies | Associate Degree

If you’re not sure about your plans, you can earn a respected and versatile associate degree while you follow your curiosity and explore different professions. This two-year associate degree in general studies exposes you to a range of disciplines and provides a solid educational base for transferring into a bachelor’s program or moving up the professional ladder. At Vermont State University, you can design a program that fits your goals and future. Remote learning options also make earning this degree convenient for students who are also working full-time.

Graphic Design | Bachelor’s Degree

Vermont State University’s graphic design program teaches you everything about good design and how to do well in a professional setting by teaching through project-oriented coursework and hands-on learning. Internships, practicum courses, and community-based projects are integrated directly into your coursework, so you will work with professional clients and build a portfolio before graduating.

Graphic Design | Associate Degree

Whether you are seeking to improve your professional skills, or want to supplement your bachelor’s degree with arts credentials, an Associate of Arts in Graphic Design will teach you the basics of graphic design and visual communication. Students learn to become problem-solvers by creating effective and compelling graphic design pieces. Through hands-on coursework, this program lets you use your creativity while gaining critical thinking skills and practical training in visual arts.
