At Vermont State University, the political science degree program centers on the study of politics, government, power, law, public policies, and political behavior. In this program, you will learn everything you need to know to bring your talents as a musician to your future students. With courses on everything from hands-on education in instrumental and choral music to instruction in general music methods, you will graduate with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to stand out in the job market and become a successful teacher.
Our expert faculty will help you master essential skills, and then guide you through the State of Vermont certification process. Successful completion of the program leads to recommendation for Vermont Educator Licensure with an endorsement in music education (Preschool through grade 12).
History investigates and makes sense of past events and experiences, going beyond the “where and when” to the “how and why.” As you study and build critical-thinking skills, you will also have access to the career preparation resources that make our history program among the best in the region. We also offer a strong interdisciplinary approach, and your courses will include literature, political science, economics, sociology, archeology, and other social sciences. You will develop and carry out an original research project on your chosen topic before graduation.
One of the few programs of its kind in the country, the Bachelor of Science in Holistic Health will train you to provide advanced care in a wide variety of holistic health practices — including chiropractic, naturopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, yoga, herbalism, and more.
Our courses are primarily taught outside in nature, and there are opportunities to deepen your understanding of holistic health practices through internships. We also provide lots of hands-on interaction and direct experience with patients.
This program will help you develop your teaching skills and experience at the same time. You will focus on a content area you are passionate about, whether that is art, science, social studies, math, English, theater, dance, or music!
You will graduate prepared to pursue licensure and may receive a recommendation for a Special Education endorsement by returning to earn six additional credits.
The undergraduate education program at Vermont State leads to a B.A. in Inclusive Childhood Education with endorsements in both elementary education (grades Kindergarten through 6) and special education (grades Kindergarten through 8). Our teacher preparation programs, approved by the Vermont Agency of Education, have produced award-winning teachers over the years. You will graduate well-prepared to pursue licensure from Vermont State.
This interdisciplinary studies program allows you to design your own customized program of study. Build the degree you want by merging your passions with academics. Working with your advisor, you will identify the areas you want to study, then submit a detailed program proposal describing the relationship between the areas of study you choose to pursue. As part of the program, you will complete an Extended Classroom Experience, which can be an internship or other applied learning experience to advance your education and career.

The Vermont State University media arts program combines art and technology. You will learn about art history, develop your personal artistic practice, and learn skills that will help you stand out when applying for jobs. Media arts students are members of a close community who take courses in graphic design, image processing, animation and motion graphics, video, and new media. You can bring your own artistic interests into your studies while gaining professional skills for the creative economy.
