Semiconductor Engineering and Physics | Graduate Certificate

This Certificate of Graduate Study in Semiconductor Engineering and Physics (CGS-SEP) program aims to expand the depth of instruction in semiconductor-related areas for students who are pursuing graduate degrees in electrical or mechanical engineering, materials science, as well as physics or chemistry. It is also highly suitable for people already working in the industry who want to broaden their experience in other areas of semiconductor technology.

Sustainable Development Policy, Economics and Governance | Doctoral Degree

The Sustainable Development Policy, Economics and Governance (SDPEG) Ph.D. program offers a transdisciplinary doctoral education in the policies, practices and theories of sustainable development. By offering a core curriculum that includes applied policy and economic analysis, governance and process design, social science methods, and professional skills development, the program produces graduates capable of conducting original, applied research that is designed to support sustainability and resiliency across social, ecological, and technical systems.

This degree will prepare students to assume positions as policy leaders in government, higher education, public and private sector organizations, non-governmental organizations, and research institutes with the expertise and vision to inform local, state, national, and international policy.

Teaching (MAT) | Master’s Degree

This nationally accredited Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) allow you to earn a master’s degree and become licensed to teach in your academic degree area. Teaching licensure options are based on your previous education/degree.

Middle Level Education is for candidates interested in teaching youth at the middle level (Grades 5-9), with a strong focus on developmentally and culturally responsive educational needs of this age group. Graduate tuition scholarships are available for qualified candidates in all licensure areas (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies).

Secondary Education is for candidates interested in teaching in their academic discipline at the upper middle school and high school levels (Grades 7-12). Graduate tuition scholarships are available for all licensure areas (Computer Science, English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Language). The Robert Noyce Scholarship is available for qualified candidates with a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth/Geosciences, Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics.

Psychology: Clinical or Experimental | Master’s Degree

The Master of Arts in General/Experimental or Clinical Psychology is aimed at students who wish to pursue a doctorate and want to strengthen their credentials to be competitive for doctoral programs, students who wish to pursue careers that require research skills, or students who wish to gain an understanding of research as it pertains to intervention and prevention.

A thesis-based and a exam-based based option is offered. For students who wish to pursue research-related careers and/or increase their competitiveness for Ph.D. programs, the thesis option is recommended. For students who need a Master’s degree for a non-research related career, for example in education, law, or business, the exam-based option is recommended.

NOTE: It is not the program’s goal to train licensed therapists pursuing a career in clinical practice. Hence, this program’s curriculum does not provide any supervised practicum or internship hours necessary for licensure. Students interested in a career as a licensed therapist should pursue that goal via the Master’s program in Counseling through the College of Education and Social Services.

Self-Designed (CALS) | Bachelor’s Degree

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) offers each undergraduate student the opportunity to define a personalized program of study. This curriculum is entitled the “Self-Designed Major” program of study. When a student determines that their personal educational objectives fall either outside or between the curricula defined by departments and programs of the College, the student may wish to consider designing a Self-Designed Major.

Essentially, each student is asked to formulate their own program of study by working in association with a faculty advisor and the Faculty Review Committee which oversee the major. Designing a major requires examination of personal goals, acquiring information about formal courses and other possible learning experiences (e.g., internships, independent studies, special topic studies, and independent research). The information is then formulated into a package of proposed coursework and other learning experiences. The objective is to design a coherent and unique plan of study to meet the specific learning needs of the student and by which the student will achieve an advanced state of skills, knowledge, and values in their chosen field.

Autonomy and Robotics | Certificate

The Undergraduate Certificate in Autonomy and Robotics (UCAR) provides you with a strong foundation in autonomous systems, robotics, and/or artificial intelligence. You will complement your coursework in these areas with experiential learning in our teaching labs. Completion of the program certifies to employers your readiness to begin your career in engineering positions focused on autonomous systems and robotics.

Computer-Aided Engineering Technology | Certificate

Computer-Aided Engineering Technology (CAET) is the term for an evolving set of computer-based tools used for the development, communication, and evaluation of product and building designs. The Undergraduate Certificate in CAET will provide students with a critical skill set identified by industry and government at both the state and national levels. Core classes provide students with a solid foundation in computerized automation techniques, three-dimensional form and location geometry. Elective courses facilitate a focus into specific sub-disciplines.

Semiconductor Engineering and Physics | Certificate

The semiconductor field is of immense importance to today’s society and the Nation’s economic well-being and security. In addition, this field has significant and historical relevance to the economy of Vermont and neighboring states.

The 17-credit Undergraduate Certificate in Semiconductor Engineering and Physics (UCSEP) provides undergraduate students with a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and hands-on understanding of this vital technology.

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant | Certificate

This program gives the background and training necessary to meet the American Speech-Language Hearing Association’s requirements for certification as a speech-language pathology assistant (SLP-A). Typically, SLP-As work with individuals with speech and language disorders in schools, but they’re also able to work in hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation settings, and private clinics.

Teaching Artist in Music | Certificate

The Undergraduate Certificate in Teaching Artist in Music provides the skills and understandings needed to facilitate musical experiences with others. Teaching music requires a deep level of content knowledge and musicianship applied using appropriate pedagogies for guiding learners through their own development of music skills, concepts, and contextual knowledge. As such students will take content courses that deepen their own musical knowledge and skills as well as applied practice courses which allow them to develop the skills to facilitate musical learning in settings related to their own musical interests and experiences.

This certificate does not lead to an endorsement for state teaching licensure and has significantly fewer credits and course hours than the B.S. in Music Education.
