CCV’s associate of science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Studies will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in key scientific and technical economic sectors in Vermont. In addition to the general education requirements, the STEM Studies degree includes 23 credits of core program requirements within the fields of science, technology, and math.
The program allows the flexibility to pursue your individual goals in fields such as physical science, life science, and pre-engineering. You may fulfill the program requirements through a combination of courses in allied health science, architecture, biology, chemistry, computer information systems, environmental science, mathematics, mechanical engineering technology, meteorology, and physics.
This certificate prepares students for a variety of frontline positions in public health. Students gain foundational skills and knowledge in public health, case management, communication, and complete a capstone course aligned with the core competencies of the community health worker role in Vermont. Community health workers are employed by a variety of social service and healthcare organizations and play an important role in supporting improved health outcomes for individuals and populations.
The Environmental Science program is designed to prepare students for employment in areas of the environment or for transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning. In this multidisciplinary program, you will learn to relate underlying scientific theory to environmental considerations affecting our everyday lives. The Cybersecurity and Networking certificate is designed for those who would like to develop and apply cyber skills in the field or prepare for more focused education and training.
The Digital Marketing certificate provides students with a comprehensive set of tools and knowledge required for entry-level roles in digital marketing and e-commerce. Emphasis is placed on essential digital marketing skills, including SEO, SEM, social media management, email marketing, and the application of digital marketing and e-commerce skills to help businesses grow their online presence and sales. The certificate is designed to provide a broad overview of the digital marketing and e-commerce landscape.
CCV’s Design & Media Studies program allows students to combine their skills in creativity, communication, design, and technology to find employment in the broad area of arts and media. All students will get a firm grounding in visual and verbal communication, design software, drawing, photography, and the creation of a professional portfolio. Students will also choose one of four focus areas: Digital Media Production, Graphic Design, Media Communications, and Visual Arts. Completing one of these focus areas, and expanding on this with strategically selected electives, will connect graduates with established four-year college programs both within Vermont and elsewhere and will also prepare them for the job market.
In the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, you will develop knowledge, skills, and experience to help you work effectively with young children (aged birth to eight) and families. These skills are based on industry standards and professional competencies in child development, family and community, teaching and learning, health and safety, professionalism, and program organization. Elective credits in the program provide flexibility to delve more deeply in to topics to support your career goals. For example, students may use elective credits to incorporate courses required for CCV’s Afterschool & Youth Work or Early Childhood Education Administrator certificates.
With Vermont State University’s Paramedicine Certificate, you will gain the skills and knowledge you need to apply to take the National Registry of EMT’s Paramedic examination and enter this growing field.
The four-semester program includes independent study, online discussions, lectures, demonstrations, and practice in an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) lab. Under preceptor supervision, students also provide patient care in a variety of pre-hospital and in-hospital healthcare settings.
