Construction 101 prepares trainees for entry-level work in the construction trades. During this six-week course, participants earn the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 certification, National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credentials, and receive job placement opportunities. A weekly training stipend is provided to all active participants.
Each trainee has access to the necessary tools of the trade. Students practice being on a construction crew, working collaboratively with their fellow trainees. They work on construction projects as they would on an actual job site. Class time is split between hands-on learning, building projects, and classroom training.

YouthBuild students have the opportunity to graduate with their high school diploma, be trained in construction skills earning certificates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10, National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), First Aid & CPR Training, and as part-time AmeriCorps members earn an AmeriCorps Education Award.

The CVCC Videography program exposes students to projects each week, providing the opportunity to write, produce, direct, and edit narratives ranging from short films and commercials to documentaries and music videos. The program is an intensive introduction to visual storytelling, digital filmmaking, film theory, and film production. Students will learn story structure and screenplay formatting, explore camera and lighting technology, cultivate teamwork, and master video editing software.The program is fast-paced, team-oriented, and full of opportunities for learning new skills and self-directed development. Each student writes and directs short films to master cinematography, directing, editing, producing, and script development.

In this program, students will learn how to identify and properly use hand tools, power tools, and general welding shop equipment, how to set up and operate Stick, TIG, MIG, and FCAW welding equipment, select electrodes, weld in various positions, and also oxyacetylene and plasma cutting. Students will learn how to weld a pad of beads, fillet welds, and groove welds in various positions leading to an American Welding Society certification. Students will also be introduced to sheet metal fabrication and light structural fabrication through project-based learning.

The Plumbing and Heating program teaches students about plumbing and hydronic heating systems. Students who complete the program will be prepared for entry-level plumbing and heating jobs, including a Registered Apprenticeship.

Successful students in this program leave prepared with 300 hours towards the Vermont Plumbing Registered Apprenticeship Program, and to test for the first year of the Vermont Plumbing Registered Apprenticeship Program.
In the Electrical Technology program, you’ll learn everything you need to prepare for a career as an electrician, including a registered apprenticeship: install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems.
This program includes the following credential(s): National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Construction Core Certificate-Introductory Craft Skills. Successful participation in this program is a pathway to Level 1 Vermont Electrician Apprenticeship. Successful students in this program leave prepared with 300 hours credited toward the Vermont Electrical Registered Apprenticeship Program and an opportunity to take the Vermont Electrical Apprentice Program exam.
This program is intended for high school students attending from within the district. College credits may be available as part of this program. Students from outside the district or adults who are not enrolled in high school can contact the center to apply for this program, as well.
The Natural Resources and Sustainability Program teaches learning outside of the classroom and into the natural world. Through hands-on education, students study solutions to sustainability issues and complete projects of importance in their community. Students learn about natural resources protection, environmental stewardship, and sustainable systems while working as a team to identify and solve problems.

Whether you love trucks, cars, ATVs, or snow machines, it all starts with understanding the automotive service industry. Get direct experience with the latest industry technology and tools. Dive into steering and suspension, brake systems, electronics, and engine performance. Learn proper repair and maintenance procedures to service automobiles and light trucks.
This program includes the following credentials: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Entry Level Certification-Maintenance & Light Repair.
In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to take Anatomy and Physiology I and II (8 credits) through Vermont State University. You will also learn basic clinical assessment skills, vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, medical terminology, phlebotomy, professionalism skills, first aid and CPR, electronic health record training, and basic suturing. You will complete the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) training program and have the opportunity to sit the CCMA licensing exam. You’ll also learn about the history of medicine in the United States and develop skills to become a leader in improving access and quality of care for all patients. You’ll also explore a variety of the medical professions through job shadowing—what they are, what they do, and what training they require.

Emergency Services is offered as a one- or two-year program at Centeral Vermont Career Center. The first year students are able to earn their Emergency Medical Technician license, and second-year students earn a paramedic license.
For Emergency Services 1, this program prepares you to handle many types of emergencies and become fully prepared to enter the emergency services workforce as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or enter postsecondary education and training. The program prepares you to earn your National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) certification, recognized across the country. The program is part of the Vermont State University’s Fast Forward program, so you will earn 6 college credit hours.
This program includes the following credentials: National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians: Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification.
For Emergency Services 2, this second-year option introduces the theory and application of concepts related to the paramedic level of the EMS profession. This is the only second year program in Vermont and the only one in the United States where high school seniors are able to take paramedic-level EMS education. The focus is to provide basic and advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Skills include extending the knowledge of the EMT to a more complex breadth and depth, intravenous access and fluid therapy, medication administration, blind insertion airway devices, and the advanced assessment and management of various medical illnesses and traumatic injuries and follows the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) Emergency Medical Services Education Standards. The program is done as a collaboration with Vermont State University and earns students 33 credits towards an associate degree.
