This training is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.
This training introduces students to anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, medical terminology, structures of the healthcare system and clinical laboratory, safety, types of laboratory analyses, specimen collection including techniques, equipment, sources of error, and medical legal issues surrounding the practice of phlebotomy. The training includes observation hours at a participating hospital.
Students who successfully complete this class will be eligible to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
